Speed limit on city-motorways

Post by vinny »

In the Netherlands there is an experiment going on to reduce the high speed limit on some urban motorways from 100 till 80 km/h. I wonder if such mesurements are also taken in Switzerland. And if they were taken: what are the results: Did it mitigate the noise and the air-pollution? Did it made the motorway safer? Had it an impact on the traffic flow?
If there is any documentation, feel free to post it, since I need some documents for writing a paper.

Some years ago switzerlands goverment decided to reduce the speed limit on some urban speed limits. the goal was to reduce the air pollution or the noise.
some examples of reduced urban motorways.

winterthur töss - winterthur wülflingen (was 120 now 100)

zürich ost - zürich unterstrass (was 80 now 60) only direction zürich city

maybe you can find documentation at one of the environmentalist homepages:

The A2 through Basel and the Ring Bern have also speedlimit 80. Is this also because of noise-reduction?
